The 7 times table from 1 to 20

7 × 1 through 7 × 9 belong to the core facts — every product of two one-digit numbers — that US standards expect students to know from memory by the end of third grade. Each row also gives the matching division fact.

Patterns in the 7 times table

  • Last digits. The ones digits of 7 × 1 to 7 × 10 are 7, 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0 — all ten digits appear once before the pattern repeats, because 7 shares no factor with 10.
  • Odd and even. 7 is odd, so the answers alternate odd, even, odd, even — odd times odd is odd, odd times even is even.
  • Digit sums. Reduce each answer to a single digit (7 × 1 to 7 × 9 give 7, 5, 3, 1, 8, 6, 4, 2, 9) and all nine values appear before repeating.
  • A prime table. 7 is prime, so its table cannot be built by chaining smaller tables — learn it directly or split 7 into 4 + 3: 7 × 6 = 24 + 18 = 42.

A shortcut for multiplying by 7

Split 7 into 5 + 2: 7 × 8 = 40 + 16 = 56.

Worked example: 7 × 14

Split 14 into 10 + 4: 7 × 10 = 70 and 7 × 4 = 28, so 7 × 14 = 98.
