The 13 times table from 1 to 20
13 sits beyond the standard 12 × 12 chart, but its multiples come up constantly — a baker’s dozen is 13. Each row also gives the division fact it answers.
| Fact | Answer | Division fact |
|---|---|---|
| 13 × 1 | 13 | 13 ÷ 13 = 1 |
| 13 × 2 | 26 | 26 ÷ 13 = 2 |
| 13 × 3 | 39 | 39 ÷ 13 = 3 |
| 13 × 4 | 52 | 52 ÷ 13 = 4 |
| 13 × 5 | 65 | 65 ÷ 13 = 5 |
| 13 × 6 | 78 | 78 ÷ 13 = 6 |
| 13 × 7 | 91 | 91 ÷ 13 = 7 |
| 13 × 8 | 104 | 104 ÷ 13 = 8 |
| 13 × 9 | 117 | 117 ÷ 13 = 9 |
| 13 × 10 | 130 | 130 ÷ 13 = 10 |
| 13 × 11 | 143 | 143 ÷ 13 = 11 |
| 13 × 12 | 156 | 156 ÷ 13 = 12 |
| 13 × 13 | 169 | 169 ÷ 13 = 13 |
| 13 × 14 | 182 | 182 ÷ 13 = 14 |
| 13 × 15 | 195 | 195 ÷ 13 = 15 |
| 13 × 16 | 208 | 208 ÷ 13 = 16 |
| 13 × 17 | 221 | 221 ÷ 13 = 17 |
| 13 × 18 | 234 | 234 ÷ 13 = 18 |
| 13 × 19 | 247 | 247 ÷ 13 = 19 |
| 13 × 20 | 260 | 260 ÷ 13 = 20 |
Patterns in the 13 times table
- Last digits. The ones digits of 13 × 1 to 13 × 10 are 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0 — all ten digits appear once before the pattern repeats, because 13 shares no factor with 10.
- Odd and even. 13 is odd, so the answers alternate odd, even, odd, even — odd times odd is odd, odd times even is even.
- Digit sums. Reduce each answer to a single digit (13 × 1 to 13 × 9 give 4, 8, 3, 7, 2, 6, 1, 5, 9) and all nine values appear before repeating.
- A prime table. 13 is prime, so its table cannot be built by chaining smaller tables — split it instead: 13 × k = 10 × k + 3 × k.
A shortcut for multiplying by 13
Ten times plus three times: 13 × 6 = 60 + 18 = 78.
Worked example: 13 × 7
Split 13 into 10 + 3: 10 × 7 = 70 and 3 × 7 = 21, so 13 × 7 = 91.
