The 25 times table from 1 to 20

25 sits beyond the standard 12 × 12 chart, but its multiples come up constantly — a quarter is worth 25 cents. Each row also gives the division fact it answers.

Patterns in the 25 times table

  • Last digits. The ones digits repeat every 2 steps: 5, 0, then 5, 0 again and so on. Only 2 different endings ever appear.
  • Odd and even. 25 is odd, so the answers alternate odd, even, odd, even — odd times odd is odd, odd times even is even.
  • Digit sums. Reduce each answer to a single digit (25 × 1 to 25 × 9 give 7, 5, 3, 1, 8, 6, 4, 2, 9) and all nine values appear before repeating.
  • Built from smaller tables. 25 = 5 × 5, so you can multiply by 5 and then by 5: 25 × 7 = 5 × 35 = 175.
  • Split by place value. 25 × k = 10 × k + 15 × k, so 25 × 13 = 130 + 195 = 325.

A shortcut for multiplying by 25

Think in quarters of 100: 25 × k = k × 100 ÷ 4. So 25 × 12 = 1,200 ÷ 4 = 300.

Worked example: 25 × 7

Split 25 into 10 + 15: 10 × 7 = 70 and 15 × 7 = 105, so 25 × 7 = 175.
